ACLx pin characteristics and Advanced Active Clamp in 2SC0535T

Posted by: IK-2246 on

Hi , I am missing detailed calculation of Advanced Active Clamping feature.

On page 14 of 2SC0535T_Manual,  it is stated that when "voltage on the right of the 20R resistor in Fig. 7 exceeds about 1.3V, the turn-off mosfet is progressively  switched off".
Since ACLx pin elecgtrical characteristics and behaviour are missing from the manual, it is impossible for a designer to determine when said resistor achieves 1.3V condition.
What's the Core monitoring ? Is that pin internally connected to the COM pin and current being monitored when turned off? .

Additionally, active clamp feature effectiveness depends on the number of TVS diodes and this pin electrical characteristics. Please, clarify detailed procedure to choose number of TVS diodes and ACLx pin characteristics.

Dear IK-2246

The active clamping function will work according to the actual behaviour of Vce voltage, which will be detected by ACL pin. please make sure to use 20R resistor according to Fig.7 , then you will see it works

On the page of 13. the suggested number of TVS has been provided for different DC link voltage levels. please follow the suggested number, then you will have a reliable design.
